History: (The International Society for the Study of Tension in Performance) is a registered charity that exists solely to help musicians with pain
and injury. These common problems may manifest as specific conditions such as tendonitis, overuse or RSI type syndromes, carpal tunnel, and
shoulder impingement syndrome to name but a few. Alternatively they may experience severe, debilitating non-specific pain caused by inappropriate tensions
in the body. ISSTIP also helps with the complex relationship of body and mind required for peak performance.
About: More recently ISSTIP has had an increasing role in educating musicians, music teachers, doctors and therapists to prevent as well as treat these conditions that have stopped many promising and established careers.
The courses to train Music Medicine Therapists are designed to carry on and develop this much-needed work.
